Strategic Advisory & Governance

Supporting leadership teams to embed equity into governance, policy and organisational strategy. I review how decisions are made and how policy is set, so that commitments to equity are written into how an organisation runs rather than sitting alongside it.

Equity & Racial Justice Audits

Independent assessments of organisational culture, policies and structures. Each audit gathers evidence from documents and from people’s experiences, identifies the barriers that exist, and concludes with practical recommendations an organisation can act on.

Community & Faith Engagement

Helping institutions build trust and meaningful partnerships with grassroots and faith-based communities, especially where trust needs to be strengthened or rebuilt. The aim is working relationships in which community perspectives genuinely inform decisions.

Training & Cultural Competency

Cultural competency training for staff, teams and community organisations on race, faith and representation. Sessions help people understand the communities they serve, handle difficult conversations with care, and take practical learning back into their day-to-day work.

Mentoring & Leadership Development

Supporting leaders working in complex institutional environments to strengthen confidence, navigate challenges and sustain impact in their work for equity and social justice.

Keynote Speaking & Workshops

Keynotes, leadership workshops and facilitated discussions on race, equity, faith, representation and social change, drawing on my work in journalism and with institutions. My aim is to be honest about what is difficult and practical about what can be done.

Case study

Bristol City Council: working with the local VCFSE sector

Bristol City Council's Family Hubs Programme wanted there to be no wrong front door for families seeking support. Working with the Good Faith Partnership, I brought faith-specialist insight and cultural competency into that work, including three locality workshops in January 2025 that brought faith leaders and Family Hub professionals into the same room.

AK & Co Consultancy was then awarded a Test and Learn Race and Multilingual Equality Grant by the council, consulting directly with families from diverse ethnic backgrounds, particularly mothers with children under four, so that their findings shape how services are designed.
